Silvertone - (1940-1970)

"Harmony was founded in 1892 and as soon as 1905 was a large supplier for the famous "Sears & Roebuck" catalog. In 1914 Sears introduced the Supertone brand, and in 1916 Sears bought Harmony.
In 1940 Sears sells Harmony to a group headed by Jay Kraus. From this date Sears used the Silvertone brand, but Silvertone guitars were not exclusively made by Harmony (well-known models were made by Danelectro, this page shows only Harmony made instruments though).
From 1970 Sears no more used the Silvertone brand, and sold guitars with its own "SR" (Sears & Roebuck) logo.

For Silvertone models, I used the model number from Sears catalogs. I chose to simplify it as "Sxxxx", for example the S1446 is the one present in the 1962 catalog as "57K 1446 L", but is stamped inside as "xxxxH1446" (the usual Harmony-made guitars serial stamp)."
